WP-1™ PLUS is a convenient and innovative water and soil amendment specifically formulated for phosphorus and trace element e.g. Zn, Cu, Cd, Cr, Fe etc. removal and water clarification in a variety of natural aquatic systems e.g. ponds, lakes, reservoirs, lagoons, rivers, estuaries, dams, ornamental ponds and natural wetlands.
WP-1™ PLUS combines the proven phosphorus and trace metal adsorption capacity of WP-1™ with a buffering agent (inorganic cationic salt) to produce a hybrid technology that can adsorb/flocculate soluble, organic and inorganic phosphorus without causing large pH swings, even in low alkalinity waters. WP-1™ PLUS is environmental safe with extremely low eco-toxicity (Acute toxicity > 2,000 mg/L). WP-1™ PLUS is NOT an algaecide or herbicide. If an algae bloom is present, use an algaecide first, followed by WP-1™ PLUS after the bloom subsides.
Typical application rate for phosphorus removal in municipal lakes, golf courses and farm pond is 40 lbs per acre-foot (15 ppm). One 40-lb dry pail (net weight) will typically treat 43,560 ft3 (equivalent to 1 acre, 1 ft deep, or ¼ acre 4’ deep). WP-1™ PLUS is effective over a wide pH range (4-10) and both aerobic/anaerobic conditions, but prior to treatment pH should preferably be between 5.5 and 8.0, and alkalinity between 50 and 200 ppm.
May be applied directly as a powder or mixed as a slurry and sprayed over the pond surface; both will achieve rapid results (> 90 % adsorption within 4hrs of WP-1™ PLUS application). WP-1™ PLUS has a high specific gravity produces a consolidated WP-1 layer at the sediment-water interface that is stable and resistant to re-suspension. Furthermore, any sites in the WP-1™ PLUS matrix layer that have not reacted remain active and will continue to bind contaminants (from both external and internal sources) until saturated.
